The Quiet Beatle

Ah, was a sad day when the "quiet Beatle" passed on. Like his fellow guitarist, John Lennon, George Harrison's guitar playing helped forge the modern sound of modern rock music. It could be said that there are many guitar players who were better than George, but I think he had a style which stands out amongst the mass of guitar players.
Perhaps not as fancy as Edward Van Halen, or Steve Vai, George still was a very versatile guitarist nonetheless. I don't think that his playing was showcased as well with the Beatles as it was with his often overlooked solo career, which shows very warm & often moody guitar sounds. I would not say that he was the best vocalist in the world, but bar none, he was one of the greatest guitar players ever.
During his formative years playing guitar, George studied the guitar works of the late, great Chet Atkins, but it was John Lennon & Paul McCartney whom would teach him how to play. Often times, however, his music did not appear on Beatles records, which may have produced interesting results to the sound of the band. But in the end, after his death, Paul McCartney called George his "younger brother," which I think is one of the nicest things I have ever read.
The world has lost a great musician, but I know that his memory will live on & he will continue to influence guitar players for generations to come.
