Metallica

On of the most amazing bassists in heavy metal, Clifford Lee Burton, has few peers in the rock industry. His heavy slabs of bass sound, laid the foundation for many popular heavy metal acts of the time, & in years to come.
Cliff's bass playing helped place Metallica sound on the map. His solo's were amazing to listen to, in tunes such as, "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)", or "Orion".  He made his bass sound like thunder, unlike few other bassists of his time.
His roots are founded in classical music, as well as jazz & to a certain extent, even blues. Because of this, he seemed an unlikely candidate for a heavy metal band. But his lightening fast bass playing fit in quite well.
Sadly, Cliff's life was cut short, far too early. He died when a tours bus skidded out of control, but the bus driver was found not to be under the influence nor asleep. It was simply a case of black ice, causing the bus to careen out of control & crash.
Cliff's legend lives on, his style was fantastic & dare I say that he influenced his replacement Jason Newstead?
